Story of the smart kid named 'Degree'

Some hours ago, I was at a canteen to buy food...

"Give me eba, egusi soup and meat worth N500", I told the seller.

As she was getting it ready for me, I looked towards the entrance of the canteen and saw a woman with a smart little boy making their way towards the canteen, too...

The child was obviously faster than her mother, so the woman said to him "Degree wait for me!" 

I was amazed hearing such name for the first time, so I moved closer to the woman and inquired: "Ma, why do you call him 'Degree'?"

The woman laughed and replied "I sent her mother (my daughter) to University, and this is what she brought for me from the school"
