Prof. Ozumba, VC- UNN Receives Kwame Nkrumah African Leadership Award- PHOTOS

Prof. Benjamin Ozumba, the Vice Chancellor of  the University of Nigeria Nsukka, (UNN) received the prestigious 2016 Kwame Nkrumah African Leadership Award for his significant role and achievement in education, medicine and societal development. No doubt, this is a well deserved award. In less than two years of being appointed as the 14th VC of the University, Ozumba has transformed the institution both in infrastructure, standard and enlistment into the World ranking of Universities as the best University in Nigeria and 14th in Africa.

The Award was presented by Ambassador Armstrong Ovie-Afabor the AG Speaker of All African Students Union and Ambassadors from Ghana, Mali and other francophone Universities. During the presentation of the award, Amb. Ovie-Afabor commended Ozumba's selfless service and unique leadership style of an open door policy.
He condemned the killing of UNIPORT First Class student, Peter Ofurum who was shot dead during a protest by students against alleged hike in fees. A one minute silence was later observed for late Ofurum.

After the presentation of the award Prof. Ozumba read his acceptance speech which is below:

It is always a pleasure to mount the podium and be decorated with honour. This, coming from students, whom we are nurturing for the future is remarkable.
