Aeronautics Unionists Ground Arik Air Operations In Lagos


Aviation workers on Wednesday blockaded Arik Air's operation region at the Murtala Mohammed Airport Lagos over an affirmed N12.4 billion obligation. 

The Union individuals conveying notices raged the General Aviation Terminal (GAT), Arik's Air's operation region at around 6.30 am and grounded the operations of the carrier. 

Stranded travelers were seen requesting for a refund from the aircraft workers while some were making elective courses of action. 

One irate traveler told Nigerian Flight Deck that he arrived the airplane terminal since 6 am to get to a meeting in Abuja: 

"I have a meeting in Abuja. Been here since 6am for my flight and I am still here. I am crushed I don't recognize what by do and even my boss supposes I am back in Abuja. This is not about refund goodness!, since I will sue on the off chance that I lose my occupation abi Arik go contract me? This one they are owing!" 

The unionist were waving bulletins with messages like: "Arik Pay Your 12.4bn Debt", "FAAN can no more pay compensations, benefits, staff claims because of your obligation", "Account holders pay all you owe FAAN now", "Arik on the off chance that you can't pay don't fly", "Arik pay your obligation, 12.4bn is excessively" 

General Secretary of the National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUATE) Comrade Olayinka Abioye in his announcement said, "We are occupied with picketing exercise against Arik Air over its obligation to FAAN in the total of N12.5b" 

Arik Spokesperson Ola Banji later discharged an announcement saying all the flights of the aircraft have been crossed out until the matter is determined.
